What confluence means
A setup may combine trend structure, momentum, volatility, volume, order flow or derivatives information.
Agreement between different categories can strengthen the evidence supporting a hypothesis, but it never creates certainty.
Correlated indicators are not independent votes
RSI, MACD and moving averages all derive primarily from price. Their agreement can be useful, but counting each as a completely independent confirmation can exaggerate confidence.
The same problem occurs when several indicators are mathematical transformations of closely related inputs.
